HAPPINESS MONTH

This week the team have been out doing surveys in areas, thank you to everyone that took part. Giving people the chance to give views on WEST MERCIA POLICE. If you would like to take part in a survey let me know.

I have been conducting a few welfare checks this week, checking on vulnerable people.

On 06/08/2025 Me and PC PERRY was out and about doing the Severn Grove walk and talk with community housing. It had a good turnout but room for many more. Remember if you have issues tell community housing or police otherwise we don’t know. Contact via website or call, then come along to a walk and talk to speak in person as well.

The team also attended the Leisure Centre event, this was for a member of staff that sadly passed away, with money raised going to the donkey sanctuary and British heart foundation. Two great charities.  It was nice and busy so good to see all the people who stopped to chat and have photos.

Great opportunity to pose for a photo:

 We parked up next to the brilliant fire service that are supper busy at the moment with the hot weather. We are finding in a lot of the green spaces people are starting fires, sometimes youths. If you see anything please report to the police and fire if necessary. A stump was set alight on the canal under the bridge on SILVERWOODS WAY, if you saw anything please let us know.

Fire doing a great job with a difficult location to get to.

Parents and Guardians be aware, over the summer holidays children may have more opportunity and time to be accessing the internet.

A question to ask yourself and think about is:

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR CHILD IS DOING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?

“In 2023, one in five terrorism arrests nationally involved a child or young person”

“Children are routinely exposed to the most serious harmful online content”

Below is a link to a web page that helps you find tools and resources to support children’s online safety and wellbeing. The internet is a minefield and really difficult for a parent to keep checks on, so please check out this web page, by internet mattersto get latest online safety advice.

The page great advice and split into sections to easy access what you need split;

By age, By issue, By activity, By apps & platforms, Supporting neurodivergent children, Supporting LGBTQ+ children and  Supporting care-experienced children
